Tasty Bulgarian recipe for amazing Meatballs Chirpan style. Fantastic meal that combine seared mixed meatballs, potatoes, pepper and carrot. Everything simmered in its own sauce with tomatoes also. I use the oil in which the meatballs were cooked for preparing the dish. And the final taste is incredible.

You have to try this fantastic Bulgarian recipe. I am sure you will fall in love with it. Combination between minced meat and potatoes is very popular, but this one has a memorable taste.
Ingredients you need
Minced pork and beef meat. You can buy the ready-one meat mixture. As you prefer.
You need an egg and flour. You should add black pepper, savory and parsley to make the perfect and tasty meatballs.
Potatoes, pepper, tomatoes, onion and carrot for the main dish. Do not forget savory.
Tools for cooking
Big bowl for mixing the minced meat. One pan for searing the balls. One saucepan for final cooking the dish.

Ingredients

  • Meatballs
  • 300 g. Minced beef meat

  • 200 g. Minced pork meat

  • 1 Small Egg

  • 1/2 tsp. Savory

  • 2 tbsp. Flour

  • 3 tbsp. Olive oil

  • Parsley

  • Black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp. Salt

  • Dish
  • 4 Medium potatoes, cut into medium pieces

  • 1 Medium Carrot, chopped into circles

  • 1 Medium Yellow Onion, chopped

  • 1 Small Green or Red Pepper, cut into medium pieces

  • 100 g. Tomato sauce or grated tomatoes

  • 1 tsp. Flour

  • 1 tsp. Paprika

  • 1 tsp. Salt

  • 1/2 tsp. Savory

  • Black pepper

Directions

  • Start
    Chop the onion into small pieces. Cut the carrot into rings. Cut the potatoes and the green pepper into medium pieces. Add one teaspoon from the flour to the tomatoes and stir.
    Put the pork and beef meat into the bowl and mix them. Add the egg, salt, savory and black pepper. Chop finely the parsley and put it in the bowl too. Mix everything by hand.
    Take one plate and put two spoons from the flour. Make small balls from the meat and roll them into the flour.
    Put the oil into the pan and preheat to high temperature.

  • Cooking
    When the oil is ready, put the ready meatballs and start searing them. Sear them for 5 minutes until browned. Turn them back for another 5 minutes until they get a browned crust.
    When finished, remove the meatballs and set aside.
    Take the saucepan. With a strainer, strain the oil in which the meatballs were seared. Place the saucepan on the stove.
    Put the onion into the saucepan. Cook it for one minute and add the paprika. Do not forget stirring. Add the carrot and the green pepper. Add the savory, the black pepper and some salt to taste. Leave them for one minute and add the tomatoes.
    Add two cups of water. When the water starts simmering, add the potatoes.

  • Finish and serve
    The final step is adding the meatballs. Put them in the saucepan among the other ingredients. Leave the meal stirring for 20 minutes until vegetables get ready.

    Serve hot with finely chopped parsley on the top. Very suitable for family lunches or dinners. Perfect combination with home-made bread.
