Wonderful combination between creamed sour cabbage, rice and sausages. Despite the fact that sour cabbage originated in China, this very tasty recipe comes from Hungary. When you taste it, you will be pleasantly surprised between the amazing combination between sour and sweet. For this recipe, you can use different types of sausages as you prefer. In that, I use small sausages and cook them whole. If you prefer larger, you should cut them for better results.

minutesMain ingredients for this fantastic recipe are sausages, rice, sour cabbage and cream. There is no need of a lot of spices. The taste comes from the sausages, the cream and the sour cabbage.
For the preparation, you will need, a big pan, a casserole and a tray. You will need one hour, but the result is worth it. Very good decision for Weekend’s dinner with the family.
Ingredients
700 g. Sour cabbage, finely sliced
1 cup White Rice
500 g. Sausages
1 cup Cream
1 Medium Onion, chopped
6 tbsp. Sunflower oil
2 tsp. Paprika
Black pepper
Directions
- Start
Chop the onion and slice the cabbage. You can slice it finely or into larger pieces, depends on your preferences. I prepare it with bigger pieces. Prepare the casserole for the rice boiling. Take the pan, put two spoons of oil and heat to medium. You will need the big pan to have a space for the cabbage and rice later. Start with the sausage preparation. Let them bake for 5–10 minutes until browned. Turn them periodically. You can skip this and bake them in the oven with other ingredients. But I think that it is better to do on this way. - Cooking
When you’re ready, remove the sausages from the pan. Use the same oil and add the onion on it. Caramelize for 5 minutes. After that, add the cabbage and the paprika. Add one cup water and leave to simmer for 15 minutes. Stir periodically.
Meanwhile, put the rice to boil. Put 2 cup of water and 1 tsp. salt in the casserole. Boil in 2 cup of water for 10 minutes to medium finish. Be careful not to burn. Remove the excess water, if any, and add to the cabbage. Leave it together for another 5 minutes. Add black pepper to taste. - Finish
When is ready, transfer the mixture to the tray. Add the cream and one up water and stir. Add and the sausages. Stir again. Put the tray in the preheated to 80 C oven for 15 minutes until ready. - Serve
